Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are two of the world’s funniest actor/comedians - and now, they’ve finally come together to star in a new film called 'The Campaign!'

We were lucky enough to catch up with Ferrell at the Australian premiere earlier this week, where he explained how this genius collaboration happened.

“It was an idea we all kind of hatched together,” said Ferrell.

“We were thinking it would be really fun to film this movie and release it in time for the tail end of the Presidential campaign.”

Will plays Cam Brady, a lazy congressman who’s in danger of losing his seat when two wealthy CEOs decide to run a rival candidate against him to gain more influence over the district.

Enter Zach Galifianakis, who plays Marty Huggins, director of the local tourism centre whose naivety makes him an unlikely choice for Congress. The two lock horns and the race devolves into a mud-slinging and back-stabbing fight to the finish.

As Ferrell explains of his character Cam Brady,

“He literally has the worst work ethic ever and barely goes to Washington...he has aspirations to become Vice President because he’s realised the Vice President doesn’t have to do anything.”

But of Ferrell’s many projects, perhaps the most anticipated is his return to the character of Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2. So how are things with the moustachioed jazz-flautist progressing?

“Right now we’re just still working on the script and start filming next year.”

“I’m really looking forward to it.”
