Seth MacFarlane, the genius (and voice) behind popular television shows ‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’ as well as the smash film ‘Ted,’ has been announced as the host of the '85th Annual Academy Awards'!
"Seth is unbelievably talented” said The Academy president Hawk Kock.
“We couldn't be happier with the creative team we've assembled. With Craig [Zadan], Neil [Meron], and now Seth, we're off to a great start."
While never having trod the Oscars stage, the star is no stranger to presenting. Seth recently hosted a wildly successful episode of acclaimed sketch show ‘Saturday Night Live’ and also acted as Roastmaster at the Comedy Central Roast of Hollywood's most famous Warlock...
"It's truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars," said MacFarlane via press release.
"My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast."
After a fairly lacklustre performance by hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco last time around, it seems that the organisers of the Academy Awards have decided to go with a proven comedian and entertainer in 2013.
Good luck Seth!
