Fans of Louis C.K. and his self-titled show will be saddened to hear that the star has decided to delay the premiere of Season 4 of ‘Louie’ until the spring of 2014, rather than a year earlier which was previously assumed.

Louis C.K. has always maintained complete creative control over his show, acting as writer, director and editor as well as taking on a starring role. In return, he works with a much tighter budget than most scripted cable shows which he is still able to spin into comedy gold.

In a conference call with reporters, C.K. explained that "The last three seasons have been this surge of fun and work and stories and it's been great, but I want the show to keep getting better.”

“That's my goal, and I don't want it to be making the donuts, I want it to be something that comes from somewhere important and stays funny. It's a luxury I asked for”

“Season four is my job right now, but I'm going to take a whole lot of time to turn it in," the comedian continued.

"I want season four to go somewhere new, even if it's only a slight shift."

‘Louie’ is in good company with some other esteemed cable shows that have had large gaps between seasons, including ‘The Sopranos,’ ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad.’

Given the tremendous amount of work that must go into creating a season of ‘Louie,’ this move will guarantee that C.K returns to the show fresh and filled to the brim with plenty of inappropriate jokes and unexpected guest stars.
