The ever-growing cast of Anchorman 2 has added yet another Saturday Night Live alum to its cast, with the announcement of Kristen Wiig joining the hit comedy franchise!

The film’s director Adam Mckay confirmed the news via his Facebook page, saying: "Kristen Wiig is officially on board for Anchorman 2. Couldn't be more excited."

While there’s been no word as yet as to what role she’ll be playing, the funny-woman joins a strong cast of comedians including Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.

Rudd, currently starring in ‘This Is 40,’ will be reprising his role as reporter Brian Fontana and spoke to MTV News about his excitement over the Anchorman sequel.

“I’ve read the script and it’s always a good sign when you’re reading something and laughing out loud – which I was doing throughout,” declared Rudd.

The actor also revealed how the script co-written by Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay is going, saying:

“Adam and Will know that world and that character so well.”

“They’re both geniuses – it’s really funny and I can’t wait. It’s insane!” he continued.

‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’ is due for release in December 2013
