“The best person to roast is somebody who can take it,” Ross revealed in an interview with Co Create.
“Somebody who’s got a good reputation and has earned the right to laugh at themselves.”
And it seems Roseanne, who took to the Comedy Central stage earlier this month to receive a good old fashioned roasting from the likes of Ross, Carrie Fisher, Seth Green and Sharon Stone, was the perfect candidate!

“The Roseanne roast was a fun one. Although I loved her TV show when I was young, the real attraction for me was her unapologetic brand of stand-up comedy,” Ross continued.
“I always love comedians who don’t hold back, who go for it, so I thought my jokes about her should be brutal. I thought I’d be doing her a disservice if I held back, so to me this had to be one of the more brutal roasts, as a way to pay respect.”
Make sure you catch ‘The Mother of all Roasts’ when the ‘Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne’ premieres Thursday September 27 @ 8.30pm on Comedy Central New Zealand!
