Digital Spy writes that in an online video promoting his new movie ‘Charlie St. Cloud’ the ‘High School Musical’ star answered a fan’s question about what TV show he’d like to star in to which he replied: “The Office’, because Steve Carell is amazing.”
Well he better gets his socks on if he wants to co-star with Michael Scott, because this week NBC confirmed the actor’s departure from the sitcom when his contract expires after the current season seven.
Original Office don Ricky Gervais hinted earlier this year that David Brent could make a visit to Scranton saying “I think it would be funny for David Brent to walk into the US Office and hear them go ‘Oh my God, there’s two of them!’” <
“We don’t need to know about Brent’s back story - the English office exists in a cocoon. Michael Scott could just bump into Brent who is a bloke from England”
But what could Efron do? Those puppy dog eyes would wreak havoc with the ladies (and Oscar) at Dunder Miflin if he were to show up in current form.
We quite like the idea of him turning up as the long-forgotten über-geek nemesis from Dwight’s childhood.
