The bizarre world of comedy found the perfect storm in Charlie Sheen in 2011. His year of warlocks, tiger blood and #winning culminated in a hilarious Comedy Central Roast that included the likes of Mike Tyson and ‘Jackass’ star Steve-O. Hardly choirboys themselves - but not even they could cast a shadow over the drug-fuelled, outrageous lifestyle that Sheen embarked on in 2011.

Sadly, we also lost a few of comedy's leading lights this year. Patrice O’Neal, who featured on the Sheen roasting panel, passed away suddenly last month. Bubba Smith, aka Moses Hightower of 'Police Academy' fame died in August aged 66, while 'M*A*S*H stalwart Harry Morgan, better known as Colonel Sherman T. Potter, died just four years short of his century.

‘The Office’ creator and star Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes this year, and we're sure Hollywood will remember his jokes long after the winners names have faded from memory. From his introduction of Bruce Willis as, "Ashton Kutcher’s dad" to "thanking God for making him an atheist", the controversial English comic certainly created a stir. We can't wait to see what he comes up with when he reprises the role next year!

And finally on the local front, the All Blacks’ World Cup win was a national celebration, and Comedy Central joined the party with a ‘rucking good’ Roast of former All Black legend, Murray Mexted!
