It seems audiences can’t get enough of ‘Modern Family’ , as the sitcom was the big winner at last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards ,taking home five awards including the highly-coveted Outstanding Comedy Series!

It was a different story however for past Emmy behemoth ‘30 Rock’ which this year failed to pick up any of the 16 awards it was nominated for.

Whilst some may have become accustomed to seeing Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin celebrating the best comedy actor/actress awards, this year saw ‘The Big Bang Theory’’s Jim Parsons (pictured), better known as supergeek Sheldon Cooper, and Nurse Jackie’s Edie Falco take the titles.

Musical Glee also proved successful with Jane Lynch winning the gong for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy and Ryan Murphy picking up Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ also grabbed an Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.

In the drama camp, ‘Mad Men’ was once again crowned Outstanding Drama with ‘Breaking Bad’s’ Bryan Cranston and Kyra Sedgwick of ‘The Closer’ given the best actor/actress accolades.
